POC Receptor Bug

The POC Receptor Bug. POC has taken the most advanced multi-purpose helmet out there, the Receptor+ and altered it especially for snow sports to make the Receptor Bug. The patented double overlapping shells system lets air in and heat out and protects from sharp objects. Ventilation can also be closed for cold days. The advanced outer shells tough and durable construction provides excellent protection with help from the in-mold liner in polycarbonate and EPS. This helmet has two hard shells, the traditional exterior hard shell found on all POC's other snowboard and ski helmets and it's lined with the same military grade Aramid ballistic penetration barrier(APB). The patented Ventilated Double Shell Anti-Penetration(VDSAP) system, a double shell solution where air is transported between two layers of shell, to avoid direct wind and to withstand penetration from sharp objects. The included “bankers brim�? boosts the style. The POC BUG Series was developed to meet the demands of today’s skiers and snowboarder, those who mach, huck and bomb cliffs anyway. The quality of skiing in any local back country or park is simply amazing these days so full and stylish protection is a definite necessity. The BUG series was derived from POC’s groundbreaking research and products on how to improve protection and performance.

The difference between the materials is that SEPP and EPP, unlike EPS do not deform permanently on impact and is therefore suitable to absorb repetitive shocks. Meaning, essentially that an EPS liner will break, distributing the force from the impact throughout the helmet. The EPP and SEPP are similar in that they will also break when the maximum force of impact occurs, but SEPP and EPP have higher stress limits when it comes to breakage and flex.
