Has three individual adjustable straps to make sure the pads stay in place.

What is D3O and Why do I need it?

D3O is a protective material that is specially designed to be lightweight and withstand high impacts. The construction of the d3o material is flexible and pliable when left alone but at the point of force in the area of an impact the material stiffens to form a hard shell, thus distributing the force of the impact throughout the rest of the material. After the impact force reverberates through the d3o material it again returns to its original flexible form. Since the d3o material is so light and durable it is ideal for body armor and pads, forming to the movements you make when you ride or skate, d3o is an ideal material for any piece of protective gear.
The topmost features:
  • D3O Knee and Shin protection
  • Top of the line quality fit and performance
  • Low profile design
  • Ballistic materials for durability

Not for cold climate applications January 18, 2016

I am a certified snowboarding instructor.  I have several Demon XD3O items (2 protective tops, 1 protective pant, 2 wrist guards) as well as these knee/shin guards.  What I have noticed is that this material does not hold up well in cold weather.  On impact the xd30 is to stiffen and absorb the shock. In cold temps the xd30 cracks. Pertaining to these knee/shin guards specificly, the portion of xd30 that covers the knee cap has cracked on both knees.  I just purchased them this summer for winter riding, and they only lasted 3 outings.... they are comfortable, but not made for cold weather use.
