The VPD material is pliable and formfitting when riding, yet hardens on impact to absorb and redistribute shock. The difference between the materials is that SEPP and EPP, unlike EPS do not deform permanently on impact and is therefore suitable to absorb repetitive shocks. Meaning, essentially that an EPS liner will break, distributing the force from the impact throughout the helmet. The EPP and SEPP are similar in that they will also break when the maximum force of impact occurs, but SEPP and EPP have higher stress limits when it comes to breakage and flex.

VPD is a soft and comfortable material but upon impact it stiffens to absorb the impact. This material is designed to absorb hard impacts and proportionately distribute the force of the impact throughout the vest. The polypropylene breast plate and shoulder cups are flexible enough to be comfortable and strong enough to last. For comfort and safety the POC Spine VPD Tee is a great solution, since the vest encompasses the wearer it provides rigid unmovable support that is also comfortable due to the deceptively soft VPD material. Got it for christmas as a gift for myself. Up to now I have only been out on the bike two times, although I haven't fallen yet.

The shirt is very elastic and fits on your body very well. The shoulder protection doesn't restrict your movement at all, and along with the breast plates, they are all breathable.

The VPD spine protector itself is amazing. It is very light, thin, flexible, and becomes warm reaching your body temperature. Its like a foamy clay. At home my gf started hitting me in the back and pointed out how it felt like hitting a shield, but felt like clay when touching it smoothly. It took the shape of my back as if I had it constructed specially for me.

I like this armor a lot! I can do whatever I want, it is light enough to jump freely, thin enough to go through trees on the trail without being stuck, and breathable enough for those hot sunny days in the mountain.

It has everything I was looking for!

My recoomendation is: go get it!
