I was looking for some ass and hip protection for snowboarding.  I just spent the weekend at the terrain park where I took a number of hard backward and sideways falls while wearing these shorts.  They completely protected my tailbone and bottom pelvis.  Absolutely no pain and no damage done.  I love these things.  I find them to be super comfortable and low profile.  You could probably wear these under loose fitting jeans and no one would notice.

I'm a 32" waist and size medium fit me perfectly.

I got this product as an upgrade to slider shorts, for use in both snowboarding and paintball games.  They are rather warm but this should be expected for protective gear,  The raised, padded areas increase the profile but are fairly concealed when wearing ski pants or loose fitting cami's/paintball pants. On the positive side, the coverage is perfect against side and back falls (snowboarding or paintball). I really like the raised padding. Just by pressing on the pads, you can tell they will absorb a large variety of impacts, even direct ones. There is decent protection in the lower tailbone area and since I plan to use this in the snow and in light woods, it is perfect coverage for the type of falls sustained in those sports. For groin protection, there is practically nothing, so you'd need to umm...support that area with more commonly available gear. For paintball, the tailbone protection isn't as important as the side protection but with this product, I have the benefit of both.
