VPD is modified polyurethane foam that is soft and pliable, so it moves easily and naturally with your joints. But in the instant of an impact, it works some molecular magic, stiffening and absorbing the impact energy and saving your body from the brunt of the blow.

The difference between the materials is that SEPP and EPP, unlike EPS do not deform permanently on impact and is therefore suitable to absorb repetitive shocks. Meaning, essentially that an EPS liner will break, distributing the force from the impact throughout the helmet. The EPP and SEPP are similar in that they will also break when the maximum force of impact occurs, but SEPP and EPP have higher stress limits when it comes to breakage and flex.

Great light weight, stylish and comfortable protection. VPD is a soft and comfortable material but upon impact it stiffens to absorb the impact. This material is designed to absorb hard impacts and proportionately distribute the force of the impact throughout the padded areas. These are super soft and comfortable knee pads. The VPD material makes them so un-bulky, you hardly notice they are under your ski or snowboard pants. They have the main protection covering the bulk of the knee area plus padding on the outsides as well.
